Etienne Duguay was a pivotal figure in the band's earliest and most formative years.Etienne Pierre Duguay was the founding drummer of Real Estate. He was part of the original 2008 lineup alongside childhood friends Martin Courtney, Matt Mondanile, and Alex Bleeker.Musical Contribution: Duguay provided the percussion for the band’s landmark self-titled debut album, Real Estate (2009). Body Actualized Center was an experimental performance and gathering space in Bushwick, Brooklyn that I co-founded as a home for deep listening, embodied practice, and community-driven art.The space hosted ambient and electronic concerts, sound meditations, yoga, and interdisciplinary events, bringing together music, physical presence, and atmosphere in an intimate setting. People sat on the floor among candles, plants, and minimal lighting, experiencing sound as something to be felt as much as heard.Body Actualized Center became part of a broader wave of next-generation New Age and experimental music culture in New York, offering an alternative to traditional venues and emphasizing stillness, attention, and shared experience.Article

Market Hotel

Market Hotel was a DIY arts and music space in Bushwick, Brooklyn that became emblematic of the neighborhood’s underground creative scene. Founded in 2008 in a 19th-century building above Mr. Kiwi Grocery, it served as an all-ages concert hall, meeting place, and living-performance space for musicians, artists, and community events. Known for hosting hundreds of punk, rock, and experimental shows and fostering a collaborative DIY ethos, Market Hotel bridged nightlife, culture, and community while challenging traditional venue norms.Article
